GLOCAL HISTORY
2006-2015
Performance
Magdalena & Bogdan Pelmus
GLocal History performance is part of a performance series about globalization, started in 2006, which has permanently changed local history by pushing it towards uniformity. Performance holds a common core, being reinvented in a new approach every time.
First performance GLocal History I, took place in Danish Cultural Institute, Kecskemet, HU. The next one GLocal History II took place in K.O.K.E.M. Contemporary Art Museum, Miercurea Ciuc , RO. The 3rd performance GLocal History III took place in Loading Open LAB – artist run space, Bucharest,RO. All 3 were part of I’M Going GLocal , a project curated by Octavian Neagu (DK) and Saskia Te Nicklin(DK) in 2006. The 4th performance took place in Calina Gallery, Timisoara,RO, in 2009. The 5th was a web cam stream performance made on the street in front of Loading Open Lab and streamed in real time in Art Museum, Brasov, RO, in 2010, being part of NAM-Museums White Night. And then again we took part in NAM on Art Museum Brasov, in 2015, with GLocal History VI, live performance.
Global + Local = GLocal
History=
1. Process of development of the phenomena of nature and society.
2. Science that studies the past of humanity and human societies in order to reconstitute them.
History involves: facts, attitudes, evolution, transformations (changes), essences (substances), effects (consequences), attributes, transitions, equivalences, and so on.
By uncovering history and photographing each other through history, two characters with distinct valences – one Gray and the other MULTICOLOR – not only approach the destruction of identity but also its maintenance and the consequences of local history as a result of global expansion and its metamorphosis in GLOCAL history.
At the same time, by taking pictures, the two characters are looking for (new) identities; they compare, self-investigate each other, and mirror each other, searching for equivalences.
History is (re) created / We are (self) included.
